Episode 25: The Nightmare Begins Part Two

March 09, 2016  /  Dawn Humphrey

If you haven't listened to Part One, STOP. Go listen and we'll be here when you get back.

Dawn and Jen pick up where they left off, finishing their discussion of A Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors. The Obi-Wan Kenobi arc of Nancy Thompson, a few crazy effects that didn't make the final cut and a recent scientific discovery that puts the "bastard son of a hundred maniacs" in a whole new light.

This episode is the second part of a two-parter that covers A Nightmare on Elm Street and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.

Nightmare 2 was covered in Episode 11.

Our heroines, Nancy and Kristen, were also part of our look at Final Girls in Episode 2.

If you're interested in reading Wes Craven's original script for Dream Warriors, The A.V. Club has a nice article and a link RIGHT HERE.

Nightmare 2 was covered in Episode 11.

February 15, 2016  /  Dawn Humphrey

It's Valentine's Day and love is in the air. Or is that the putrid stench of decay? Honestly, we can't tell. Join Jen and Dawn as they look at four of horror's greatest romantic tropes: Love Will Save Us, The Family that Slays Together Stays Together, Love Will Drive You Crazy and Sex Kills.

We've got a lot of love for love, so join us as we show the more romantic side of horror.

Episode 22: Taking a Bite Out of Sex Ed

February 01, 2016  /  Dawn Humphrey

What do the foibles of the American education system, sexual power myths and horrible gynecologists have in common? The movie Teeth.

Join Dawn and Jen as they pick at the sexual politics in abstinence education, give you a brief primer on the legend of vagina dentata, and the beautiful usage of comedy in horror in this 2007 film by Mitchell Lichtenstein. One of our favorites, we hope you like it to.

WARNING: This movie and podcast contains discussion of rape and a lot of usages of the word vagina.

Thanks always to The Shape for the intro/outro music.
