Episode 44: Slumber Party Slither

February 01, 2017  /  Dawn Humphrey

Dawn and Jen are joined by actor Jessy Schwartz (@JessySchwartz) for slumber party! Listen as they watch 2006's Slither and get grossed out, confused by tubules (tentacles?), and are frankly impressed by the amount of exposition coming from a teenager. Go, Kylie.

The Twelve Days of So You Don't Have To: Santa's Slay

January 04, 2017  /  Dawn Humphrey

Sadly, this more or less sums up most of the movie. The writers snarling at stereotypes.

Sadly, this more or less sums up most of the movie. The writers snarling at stereotypes.

Let's be concise this year, shall we? One SYDHT post to rule them all? After all, there's a lot of truly offensive jokes, terrible puns, nonsensical plot devices and only two bright stars to get us through the night.

Join Dawn on her annual tour through a holiday-themed mess of a movie. From initial amusement, incredulous stammering, and finally, an exhausted final gasp, this year's movie, 2005's Santa's Slay, truly has something to tick off everyone.

Happy holidays!!

On the twelth day of Christmas, this movie gave to me: Twelve hunters hunting, eleven seconds of zamboni, ten bulging muscles, nine townies fleeing, eight missing evil elves, seven tasteless cheap jokes, six pretty puppets. Five very dead strippers! Four random plot points, three damn door locks, two teen stars, and a very dead WASP-y family.

This is it. This is the end. The whole thing.

Episode 43: P2: The Payoff 2

December 01, 2016  /  Dawn Humphrey

Seriously. WTF with the horse, dude?!?!

Seriously. WTF with the horse, dude?!?!

Once again, the Women In Caskets lost the Save Horror Halloween Madness much to the chagrin of the Women. The winner: Sean, of Miskatonic Musings. They also tip their hats to the wonderful crews of The Rants Macabre and The Girls In The Back Row, all of whom also beat Dawn and Jen.

No, really, your hosts came in dead last.

As punishment, Jen and Dawn spend an hour talking about Pizza Dogs, improbable strip clubs, and Hobo Mountain Magic Mike as they try and get through Rob Zombie's H2: Halloween 2. Logic and taste need not apply.

In other news, we have launched our Patreon! Visit us at www.patreon.com/womenincaskets for more information. Posts will be going up there soon for sponsors and non-sponsors alike, so check us out.

Thanks always to The Shape for the intro/outro music.

Episode 42: Survivor Psychosis

November 15, 2016  /  Dawn Humphrey

Because so much has happened in the US since our last podcast, the Women In Caskets take some time before the regular podcast to get political.

We understand that the current state of politics in the US may be triggering for some, so if you'd like to skip it, we discuss the presidential election and what you can do from timestamp 9:10 to 23:24 and again at the end of the podcast after the 1:42:00 mark. We hope you don't skip this as this is very important to us, and we hope it is to you, too, but we understand.

Additional information and links mentioned on the podcast can be found at the end of these notes.

Politics aside, Dawn and Jen had the wonderful opportunity to attend the screening of a locally-produced and filmed movie called The Last Girl Standing. It's a haunting character study of what happens to the final girl after the killing is done. It's got a LOT to say about trauma, coping mechanisms, and failure to deal with your demons and we have a lot to say about that.

Also, we have launched our Patreon! Visit us at www.patreon.com/womenincaskets for more information.
